Job Description

Community & Family Resources (CFR) is a subtance abuse, gambling and mental health treatment facility located in 8 central Iowa counties including Calhoun, Pocahontas, Humboldt, Webster, Wright, Hamiton, Boone, Ames and Webster counties. Our staff have the opportunity to provide support at many different levels with youth as well as adults.  

CFR is currently seeking a Mental Health Therapist for our Fort Dodge Outpatient office.  This would be in an outpatient faciity and would provide services such as mental health evaluations and individual sessions, with the possibility of group sessions as well.  This individual will also assist in every third weekend coverage for our Crisis Unit by being available via cell phone and computer.
  • Conducts clinical assessments and provides diagnosis, treatment and referrals when indicated
  • Carries a treatment caseload; provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families and groups as appropriate; starts and ends sessions on time and maintains consumer confidentiality
  • Regularly schedules and provides emergency services
  • Actively participates in therapy unit planning and functioning
  • Accurately and punctually completes needeed clinical documentation and insurance authorization requests
  • Provides education to the community as requested
  • Providing services in a satellite location may be an exception
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience

Education and Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD or Master's degree in the social or behavioral sciences AND
  • Current Iowa Licensure as a Psychologist, Independent Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist (LISW, LMHC, LMFT)
  • Current certification as a substance abuse counselor is preferred (CADC or IADC)
Skills and Abilities
  • The ability to establish good working relationships with clients and staff
  • Ability to discern and report relevant client information to clinical staff for appropriate management of client care
  • Ability to complete written reports and form completion in a timely and accurate manner
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess basic computer skills and the ability to document client information
