Job Description

The Prevention Specialist position requires:

· Public speaking
· Participation in community advocacy
· Performance of urgent, confidential, and complex tasks
· Ability to function in the local political environment
· Must be detail oriented and have excellent written and verbal skills
· Timely paperwork completion
· Experience passing policy
· Ability to work varying hours
· Must become a Certified Prevention Specialist within one year from date of hire
· Travel within all counties served
· Satisfactory background check and pre-employment drug screen required

Qualified candidates will have:
· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Community Health, degree in Nursing or closely related experience with a minimum of two years experience in education, training, public relations, or community activism, or a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with three years work experience in a human service agency
· Knowledge in prevention theory, problem gambling and substance abuse, and public relations
· Valid driver’s license with own transportation and automobile insurance

This position will office out of our Webster City, IA or Ames, IA location.
