At Community & Family Resources (CFR), our staff has the opportunity to provide support at many different levels with youth as well as adults.  Our teams at CFR consist of highly qualified and motivated staff that has a passion for working with people and specifically assisting those who have or have had a struggle with substance use and the disease of addiction.  Many of the people we serve have also struggled with poor decision making, legal issues, homelessness, mental health disorders, health issues, and family issues leaving them with minimal support.  Our team at CFR works together to provide support and instill hope for the people we work with.  We provide education regarding alternatives that are available and the hope of achieving a healthy and happy lifestyle.
CFR is currently seeking to hire an Adolescent Residential Counselor for our youth residential program.  The basic tasks are to provide chemical dependency and gambling treatment services to individuals with substance abuse and/or gambling disorders and their families including assessment, individual/family treatment, group treatment, education/prevention services and support services.
HOURS:  Will work 8:30am to 5pm Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday and 10:00am to 6:30pm on Sunday. Days off are Friday/Saturday
  • It is the requirement of the position that the employee will seek certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) and Certified Gambling Treatment Counselor (CGTC), and subsequently as an International Alcohol & Drug Counselor (IADC) as soon as the person can meet the qualifications per the Iowa Board of Certification standards.
  • Due to extenuating circumstances, an extension may be approved by the Executive Director.

Skills & Experience

  • Must be a detail-oriented team contributor with strong enthusiasm and a passion for learning who is able to excel with minimal supervision
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have excellent listening comprehension including the ability to understand complex written & verbal instructions
  • Requires a high degree of Confidentiality
  • Will assist clients in completion of necessary assessment forms/documents
  • Conducts individual assessment sessions for completion of psychosocial histories of clients
  • Participates with Program Supervisor in development of recommendations for clients
  • Prepares and distributes assessment results, reports, etc., as required and requested
  • Assists in other assessment processes are required and requested
